The store is clean and usually well-stocked, but the staff leave a lot to be desired. With only 3 or 4 checkouts open the lines are always long, and the cashiers are slow. We could not find the one item that we specifically came to this Walmart Supercenter looking for. We drove to the much smaller Walmart in Eaton and immediately found the item.
The employees at this store are not very helpful, nor friendly; need better training for their "people skills." Normally we would drive the greater distance to the store in Oxford, but we came to Richmond on other business and decided to stop by this Walmart. Like I noted earlier, this store is usually well-stocked, and it's understandable that due to Christmas shopping, they are bound to be out of some merchandise. But there is no excuse for the lack of open checkouts; nor the attitude of employees toward customers. My recommendation is to avoid this Walmart if at all possible. It is worth the drive to another store if you have the time.
Wal-Mart's have been showing a steady improvement in cleanliness and service. I loved the phone service center at the front of the store. They will help you with any needs with phones or phone service.
Prices are good. If you know what you want then it's good. If you need help forget it. You might as well bring your sleeping bag and camp out and then maybe, just maybe after a few days you might get help. It is extremely rare for an employee to ask can i help you with anything. If a supervisor sees you being asked if you need help , that poor employee gets yelled at in front of all customers for helping you. Walmart might want to take a look at your management thats running your stores, especially in Richmond, Indiana
I tried everything to get the cashier to talk to me. She told my husband the total and would not say another word.I told her to have a beautiful night, asked if we all our bags,and I was commenting that my total was less than I thought it was. I told her " It's always better when it is cheaper than you thought isn't it ." The rest of the trip was wonderful.
Surreal. There is a deep feeling of loss which permeates the walls of this dear Walmart. A staff that watches with careful eyes and walls that don't sit right. Peaceful, for the most part. A price on plantains so reasonable, it seems like entrapment. Like sisyphus, I am bound to this place.
