If you call outside of "business hours", their automated system tells you to call back later or leave a message. If you try to speak with an on-duty supervisor about a police matter, the automated system asks which shift supervisor you want to talk with (first, second, or third). After you choose you get transferred to either a voicemail system that is full and won't record your message or an extension that rings and no one answers.
What kind of police department doesn't have an emergency after hours phone number!? They should have a number you can call 24/7 in case you have an immediate concern or need police response right away! Going to voicemail after hours is just not acceptable. In fact, a 10-digit number is too much to dial when you're in a panic. They should have a shorter number. Something easy to remember and fast to dial, but that you can't dial by accident. Like, 833 or 911 or something like that.
